As a Leipzig resident who studied musicology here! I always had the DNB in mind as a potential employer. Hartmann-Enke After my master’s degree, I was able to gain experience in a wide variety of places. For example, I worked in the Gewandhaus archive for a project and as a short-term technical representative for the director. At the same time, I was able to supervise two music projects at the Saxon State Library (SLUB). During the pandemic, I was lucky enough to be able to do my doctorate on the Gewandhaus concerts 1781-1895 through a scholarship until 2022 and then work in research data management at the University of Leipzig. When I saw the job advertisements for the scientific service and specialist departments, an application was a must for me. The fact that I was selected and was able to prevail against numerous applicants made me very proud.

What projects Hartmann-Enke and topics do you oversee?

In the academic service, I was responsible for two projects (Jazzwerkstatt Peitz and Börsenblatt of the German Publishers and Booksellers Association) as well as the day-to-day tasks of networking and organizing events with academic communities. As a specialist for music, history and the military at the Leipzig location, I was responsible for both the content-based processing of these academic book groups and the corresponding standard data work and supported the AI training.

As deputy director and head of the collections department at the German Museum of Books and Writing, new and very exciting tasks await me. In addition to my role as manager and contact person for employees, I am now developing the strategy of the Museum of phone number database Books and Writing, its collections and thus also of the German National Library. As deputy, I am responsible for representative tasks as well as communicating the museum and our holdings to (scientific) partners.

Your position has developed in a very short space of time. What has changed for you as a result?
My new role has given me a tremendous amount of development, but I still have a lot ahead of me. Even starting out in the scientific service was a great experience with many rewarding tasks. Now I have to face new challenges that will certainly have a lasting impact on me. The (ever-changing) demands placed on modern managers alone are an exciting field that I will learn about over time.

What was or is your most exciting project?

So far, the “Störenfriede” jazz festival in September 2024 has been a how a developer resisted a market decline great and exciting project in our house. It made me think back to my old days at HKES Event Logistics. Organizing such large events with contact with hong kong data artists is of course not an everyday occurrence in a museum. Another exciting “project” was arriving in the house and establishing ourselves as a scientific service. With a staff of over 600 people, it is not that easy to get an overview of the relevant departments and contact persons and to network with them. But it was surprisingly easy, not least because the colleagues are all very nice and we want to achieve our great goals together.
